Configuration changes using ALL.prm

Describing the process to change the robot controller configuration using an ALL.prm file which is modified by Yaskawa.

In some cases it might be necessary to activate functions or change Yaskawa parameters on a system which is already in the field. Certain configuration changes can be done remotely by Yaskawa through editing the ALL.PRM file (saving time and costs of a service visit).

The ALL.prm file is protected by a checksum and cannot be edited by the customer.

ALL.PRM process

This process requires actions from both customer and Yaskawa and thus requires good planning.

Some steps require the robot controller to be in maintenance mode and a sufficient authorization level (management or higher).

Activate maintenance mode:

  1. Power off
  2. Press (and hold) main menu
  3. Power on
  4. Release main menu when the beeping sound is heard (usually within a few seconds)

Change the authorization level:

  1. system » security » select
  2. select the desired level using ▼ ▲ » select
  3. enter the password and press enter

1) Warning

Making configuration changes may only be done by experts. Any mistake can lead to a defective system!

2) Preparation

  1. [Customer] Boot the robot controller in normal mode.
  2. [Customer] Insert a USB stick in the pendant.
  3. [Customer] Save a system backup (CMOS.BIN) – just in case:
    EX. MEMORY » SAVE » SYSTEM BACKUP (CMOS.BIN)
  4. [Customer] Save the ALL.PRM file:
    EX. MEMORY » SAVE » PARAMETER » BATCH PARAMETER
  5. [Customer] Remove the USB stick from the pendant.
  6. [Customer] Send the zipped ALL.PRM file to YEU by email.

3) Modification

  1. [YEU] Edit the ALL.PRM file.
  2. [YEU] Generate a new checksum for the file.
  3. [YEU] Send the new ALL.PRM file to the customer by email.

4) Implementation

  1. [Customer] Copy the received file to a USB stick.
  2. [Customer] Insert the USB stick in the pendant.
  3. [Customer] Change the authorization level to management or higher.
  4. [Customer] Load the ALL.PRM in normal mode:
    EX. MEMORY » LOAD » PARAMETER » BATCH PARAMETER

5) Confirmation

  1. [Customer] Restart in maintenance mode.
  2. [Customer] Change the authorization level to safety.
  3. [Customer] Confirm the MotoLogix settings:
    SYSTEM » SETUP » OPTION FUNCTION » MotoLogix
    1. Verify the settings.
    2. Important: Confirm settings using ENTER
  4. [Customer] Confirm the fieldbus settings:
    SYSTEM » SETUP » OPTION BOARD
    1. Apply the fieldbus settings for MotoLogix usage as described in the Robot Setup .
    2. Important: Confirm settings using ENTER (multiple confirmation popup windows will follow).
  5. [Customer] Perform the flash memory reset.

6) Verification

  1. [Customer] Restart in normal mode.
  2. [Customer] Check if no alarms and robot working normally.
